From hand-made laboratories to the pasta factories

Gragnano famous in the world

In the second half of 1700 the laboratories were extended and the first real pasta factories were born. There was an enthusiastic movement to increase the production and the marketing of pasta, that achieves an high quality, recognized at national and international level.

The lawyer Alfonso Liguori , on the base of Naples archives documents , relates that:  “In Neapolitan Kingdom only Gragnano Pasta was eaten and all the shops exposed the different kinds of pasta: ziti, lasagne, vermicelli, mezzanelli, spaghetti, spaghettini, etc. During Italian unification , in 1860, Gragnano, laborious production center, had 120 machines for macaroni production and 32 mills to flour its wheat."
